Changing Lives in RSU 18December 22, 2016
We all know how life changing a good teacher can be, and we are fortunate to have many such wonderful educators in our district, several of whom have been recently recognized for their positive impact on our children and our community. Now Williams Elementary School fifth grade teacher Valerie Glueck has been nominated for the 2016-2017 national LifeChanger of the year award!
A total of 15 LifeChanger of the Year Awards will be selected from the hundreds of nominations the program receives from all over the country. An additional 16th prize, entitled the “National Spirit Award,” goes to the nominee whose community demonstrates the most support for their nomination.
The selection committee, made up of past winners and education professionals, will select the award recipients based on their involvement in leadership activities within the school and/or community, and their ability to make a beneficial difference in students lives and the development of the school’s atmosphere. The winners will be announced in the Spring of 2017 at surprise awards ceremonies held at their schools.
Ms. Glueck was nominated by Williams Elementary principal, Kathy Harris-Smedberg for her nurturing and motivational approach in her classroom and her leadership role amongst her peers.
“Ms. Glueck is the consummate professional,” said Ms. Harris-Smedberg. “Any student can be placed in her class and she will warmly welcome, guide, nurture and challenge them based on their demonstrated abilities. She actively engages students by providing a wide range of modes and modalities, while also pushing them to achieve more than they thought possible. She is truly an advocate for all children and works tirelessly to help them succeed.”
Ms. Glueck is also involved in many student-centered community events and organizations including the PTA.
Congratulations Valerie, and thank you for all you do!
